Last updated on February 18th 2016
With modern homes containing more and more gadgets to make your life easier, smart features now even extend to your property’s blinds. With the recent, prominent rise of the FlipFlic device in the blinds industry, customers in a variety of properties throughout the world are now able to benefit from this clever piece of machinery’s ability to adjust slats throughout different points in the day, according to changes in weather, temperature and light.
What does it do?
Clipping onto venetian blinds in an extremely easy fashion, the device comes with a CordBox which keeps the blinds’ cord out of reach. This a crucial safety aspect of the blind, making it a fantastic choice for households with children and pets who could fall threat to accidents that can occur with blinds’ cords.
The gadget, fitted with sensors, is able to automatically monitor changes in light, temperature, weather and time of day. With these readings, the FlipFlic is able to adjust the blinds’ positioning and angle accordingly to ensure your home is the right brightness and warmth at all times. For example, on an extremely sunny day, the gadget will be able to sense the rise in temperature and brightness, and subsequently angle the blinds to a more closed position to eliminate unruly levels of heat and brightness within the room in question.
How is it operated?
Powered by it’s own solar powered built in battery, the device has further smart properties in that it can even be operated by smartphones, tablets and laptops via the latest smart home protocol. It simply uses an app available on IOS devices or via your browser.
Aside from the one-off cost as discussed below, it is an extremely cost-effective method of regulating your home’s light and heat conditions.
How much will it cost?
The new generation FlipFlic goes on sale in March 2016, priced at approx £55; a small price to pay for the amount saved on the bills that would otherwise be spent to keep your property at a suitable temperature and brightness throughout the day. Indeed the device’s makers propose a reduction in heating and electricity bills of around 18%, saving on average around £210 each year on these bills.
